What is the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program?

The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) facilitates economic immigration by selecting individuals who can contribute to Alberta’s workforce or who plan to establish a business in the province. This program is focused on addressing specific labor shortages. Also it ensures that nominees can financially support their families in Alberta.

The AAIP is administered jointly by the Alberta provincial government and the Canadian federal government. Nominated Individuals become eligible to apply for permanent residency. It includes their spouse or common-law partner and dependent children.

The processing of permanent residency applications is managed by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). Hence, it has the final say on approval decisions. Originally known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), the program was renamed to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) on February 16, 2022.
